The SafetyWrap is a natural progression for any situation which currently utilises foil emergency blankets. In addition to the fact that it covers the whole torso, the SafetyWrap also has a hood, which will keep the heat in and the rain off. The human body loses 80% of body heat through the head. The SafetyWrap is very light and can easily be carried during a run, at an outdoor music event. The SafetyWrap is also ideal for storage in a First Aid Kit, the glove compartment of a car for emergency use.
Running Events – One of the main risks to runners at the end of an event, whatever the distance, are the effects of rapid heat loss from the body, due to exertion. this applies just as much to middle distance runners, as it does to longer distance runners. The SafetyWrap allows the wearer to cover the head, where required. There is however, no necessity to use the hood, if it is not required. The slots in the sides, allow the wearer to hold a drink or have something to eat, whilst still keeping the body covered. The dimensions of the SafetyWrap also allow the wearer to hold their kit bag, etc, underneath the garment.
Vehicle Emergency/Accident – Should your car break down on the motorway, the advice is to evacuate the vehicle. the SafetyWrap is an ideal emergency situation garment, which will keep you warm and dry, whilst makng you clearly visible, due to the reflective material. The SafetyWrap is available in silver or gold material. The silver material will retain 65% of body heat. This will be perfectly adequate in most situations, whilst the gold material will retain up to 99% of heat loss, which will be ideal in emergency or extreme situations.
Whilst the SafetyWrap is designed to be disposable, it is also re-usable, so a small stuff sack with a belt loop is currently being designed, which could be used to store the SafetyWrap after use and to re-use when necessary. The stuff sack will be available in the near future.
Other possible uses for the SafetyWrap include Spectators at sports events (including substitutes waiting on the touchline), Skiers, Theme Parks revellers, Event Marshals, First Aiders, Paramedics, Rescue Teams.
